What is 4-H CARTEENS?


4-H CARTEENS is a traffic safety program for first time juvenile traffic offenders.





What are the goals of the 4-H CARTEENS program?


      • Reduce the number of repeat juvenile traffic offenders
      • Decrease the number of teen traffic offenders, and
      • Increase teen awareness of traffic/vehicular safety

CARTEENS Volunteers Needed?


CARTEENS volunteers are always needed.  Check out the cool incentives available to active CARTEENS Volunteers!  Then read about how to become a CARTEENS volunteer below.




How do I become a CARTEENS volunteer?


Potential CARTEENS volunteers must meet the following basic requirements:

      • You must be 14 years old as of January 1 of the current year (at least a freshman).
      • You must have no more than one minor traffic violation upon starting as a volunteer.
      • You must not receive any traffic violations while serving as a volunteer.
      • You must commit to attending the majority (over 50% of all scheduled sessions).

Previous participants of the program are encouraged to become CARTEENS volunteers.


If you are interested in becoming a CARTEENS volunteer and meet the basic volunteer requirements, please complete and submit the following forms to the Belmont County Extension Office, 101 N. Market Street, Suite A, St. Clairsville, OH 43950.

CARTEENS volunteers will be rewarded for the time they contribute to the program.  Awards will be given based on hours spent volunteering and recruitment of new volunteers.  Examples of the awards include gas cards, mall gift certificates, a digital camera and an iPOD.
