Livestock Quality Assurance
2026 LQA Dates:
April 6th @ 6pm, Extension Office
April 8th @ 6pm, Extension Office
April 14th @ 6pm, Extension Office
April 16th @ 6pm, Extension Office
May 19th @ 10am, Extension Office
Members only need to attend ONE session each year regardless of how many species they exhibit at fair. Sessions last about 1.5 hours.
All livestock project exhibitors (market, breeding, exhibition, fancy, etc.) MUST complete a Livestock Quality Assurance session or have successfully tested out for their age group to be eligible to exhibit at the 2026 Belmont County Junior Fair. The dates listed above are sessions provided by the OSU Extension Office. Other options to complete LQA include an online course, attending another County's Extension LQA, or completing through an approved instructor.
IN 2026: The Belmont County 4-H Council is hosting a feed and nutrition clinic one hour before each LQA Session this year at the Extension Office. The speakers are listed below for these optional free clinics!
April 6th, 5pm - Tom Wise, Heritage
April 8th, 5pm - TJ White, Umbarger
April 14th, 5pm - Ryan Bapst, Ridley Block Operations, Belmont Mills
April 16th, 5pm - Miranda Miser, M&M Feed and Supply
May 9th, 9am - Kaci Carter, Kalmbach, Belmont Mills
Test Out Options:
All members ages 12 and above are eligible to take the LQA test out after each session provided by the Belmont County Extension Office, or by scheduling with the Extension Office. If passed (70% or above), members 12-14 do not have to retest or complete LQA until they turn 15 in program age (age as of Jan. 1 of program year), and members 15-18 do not have to retest or attend LQA for the remainder of their eligible years.
